Off-Road Capability
A Jeep® Trail Rated® badge is found on all 4x4s that pass a series of
grueling tests designed to prove off-road capability on the world's most
demanding terrain. So you can expect to Go Anywhere, Do Anything™ in a Jeep®
vehicle, and Commander is no different. Commander has two 4WD systems that
can lay stake this claim. Both Quadra-Drive® II and Quadra-Trac II® are
Trail Rated® systems. The basic Quadra-Trac I® 4WD system is also available.
Comfortable Interior
The 2010 Jeep® Commander is as comfortable as it is capable. Experience a
high level of refinement with bright accents and soft touch surfaces. The
European influenced two-tone instrument panel features a darker top portion
for a dramatic and elegant look that also reduces glare from the sun, while
the leather-wrapped steering wheel cushions your grip and provides the
perfect finishing touch to the cabin. Add to that capable features, such as
the new auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the available uconnect system[3] (gps
and phone) with SIRIUS Satellite Radio with real-time traffic service, and
you have the perfect command center.
Hill Descent Control
The road can be a threatening place - but with Hill Descent Control and Hill
Start Assist, Commander has the agility to help you navigate the trickiest
of obstacles. Hill Descent Control with grade sensing allows a smooth and
controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver
needing to touch the brake pedal. This system applies the brakes to each
wheel individually when needed to reduce forward motion while negotiating
down steep grades.
Electronic Stability Control
During extreme steering maneuvers Electronic Stability Control[4] (ESC)
helps maintain control by sensing when the vehicle is starting to over- or
understeer.
ESC automatically applies individual brakes or controls the throttle to help
you stay safely on course. When you don't want the extra hand, ESC is
specially tuned for performance handling so you can switch it off.
5.7L HEMI® engine with MDS
The 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine features the economical Multi-Displacement System
(MDS) which deactivates four cylinders when eight are not needed. When
cruising at highway speeds between 40 and 60 mph, MDS uses advanced computer
technology and electronic throttle control to transform the HEMI® V8
seamlessly from V8 power to an efficient four-cylinder powerplant in .04
seconds and based on 2010 EPA estimates, gets 20 mpg highway[1]. The 3.7L V6
engine is standard.
CommandView® Dual Skylights
Enjoy a wide-open view of nature with Commander Limited's available
front-row power sunroof and available exclusive fixed-panel second-row
CommandView® Dual Skylights. For added convenience, the sunroof features
express open / close and comfort stop.
